Marchers at the Gay Freedom Day Parade in San Francisco. The focal point is a person wearing a cape and a leotard with “Gay Power” emblazoned on the front in glittery cursive. They are carrying a shield depicting a labrys and the words “FIGHT BACK”

There’s this stereotype that fat people don’t/can’t exercise because of our fatness, and I want to address this. There are definitely fat people who are active and fit, but there are also, indeed, many fat people who don’t fall into that category.
The thing though is that it’s not fatness keeping us from exercising.
It’s being judged and watched at the gym, having our abilities assumed by our size, not being able to find swimsuits or jogging attire or sports equipment that fit because people literally do not include us into the equation, work out equipment is not made with our bodies in mind, children being turned away from sports teams or clubs because they are fat (things that actually happen), not even being given the chance to play, being bullied and abused by strangers as you do something as common as walk in the park, people assuming you’re exercising for the purpose of weight loss, because you hate yourself, never being represented ever in anything sports/exercise related, being told you’ll look ugly with your “flab bouncing and moving about,” not having the time, energy, or resources to exercise because you’re poor (many poor people are fat) and work three jobs, being shamed from ever even leaving your house, not being welcome in active communities, how steeped in diet culture said active communities usually are, being told our whole lives that fat people cannot exercise for pleasure but must exercise to repent for the sin of being fat, and all the other fatphobia that causes fat people to be shamed, ridiculed, and gatekept out of being active.
If it weren’t for fatphobia and the abuse of fat people, there would be just as many active fat people as there are active thin people.
So the next time you inwardly shame a fat person for not exercising enough to your liking, think about all the privileges they don’t have and how much that fat person has to work through just to be allowed to start the race.
The amount of capitalists that tell me no one has a right to another’s labor is so weird since a core component of capitalism is literally someone else owns your labor.
I think I will rip a few things apart with my teeth and then feel better
the amount of background brain processing power dedicated to The Plague at all times is just. appalling. am i a little warm or do i have a fever? do i just need to drink some water or is my throat getting dry? was that just bland or is my taste a little off? how many people are wearing masks in here? his is under his nose. hers under her chin. how many will be wearing masks at that place i’d like to go to next week? should i even go? this mask needs washed. my glasses are fogging up. did they just cough? don’t stand so close. are there too many people in here? someone i know is waiting on results. i want to see my friend but is it a good idea? someone else is isolating. i forgot to sanitise my hands on the way in. how many people will be there? i can’t be off work. how many people died today anyway? i’m outside but it’s crowded. they’re standing real close to me. it’s kind of hot in here. or am i getting a fever?
it’s very easy to convince north americans to support war overseas, like they don’t increase taxes for war anymore they don’t draft civilians there’s like negative risk that whatever war would actually be brought onto north american soil, so much of war is drones and bombs and other tech and the people powering them are sitting somewhere relatively safe just pressing buttons, and those who are actively fighting are usually private military contractors/mercenary orgs as well as special ops so it’s not like most people are scared of their kids going overseas and dying. it literally doesn’t impact north americans at all in terms of like daily life changes or impacts whether or not we get involved, and people are so miserable that theyre trying to put food on the table and keep their job and trying not to die of covid that it’s even worse now than it was 20 yrs ago. so it’s easy for someone sitting on the couch who tunes into CBC or CNN or whatever to see like their 6pm news coverage or read a couple articles every week and go “oh yeah sure I guess I support this war in wherever. those people over there sound bad so yeah we should stop them” and not think anything further, and anyone who criticizes this view is like. clearly a bad person cause that guy over there is bad and we’re liberal democracies, whatever like marvel avengers shit people think our countries are, human rights etc when in reality wherever we go we only cause more pain and suffering and the people in power are entirely profit motivated
not even mentioning how many north americans don’t see people overseas as actual human beings… and the new liberal thing is twisting it around so like if you don’t support war you’re actually the racist one and you’re actually the one who doesn’t see people as human beings and like. we should bomb wherever cause theyre lgbtphobic or hate women, as though the us and canada aren’t just as culpable in systemic misogyny and homo/transphobia and other forms of bigotry. as though any of the people in power actually care about lgbt people or women’s rights or anything when they don’t give a fuck about the people in their own country suffering. its such a mindfuck
tragic i dont have hidden forearm blades
People who think this planet was created for humans to be ours are so wild to me
70% of the planets surface is undrinkable uninhabitable death water that sharks love. How is that a human-centric design.
the earth was created for various types of crabs
